StarRupture Combat: How To Unlock Your First Weapon & Survive

Combat in StarRupture is deadly without preparation. Here's how to unlock the UPP-7 Pistol, manage ammo, and build base defenses.

Enemy Types (And Which Ones To Avoid)

Vermins are common early threats—aggressive but weak. Larger enemies spawn near anomalies and during Rupture events.

Learn patterns before engaging. Some attack on sight; others only if you get too close. I died 5 times before learning to just run.

How To Unlock Your First Weapon (UPP-7 Pistol)

The UPP-7 Pistol unlocks at Griffith Blue Level 2. This is your first reliable combat option.

Before having a weapon, avoid combat entirely. Running is almost always better when unarmed. I learned this the expensive way.

Ammunition Management (Don't Run Out)

Ammo crafting requires resources. Don't waste shots on enemies you can avoid—each bullet costs production time.

Keep a reserve for emergencies. Running out of ammo in dangerous territory is often fatal. I keep 20 rounds minimum.

How To Build Base Defenses

Defense Turrets unlock at Griffith Blue Level 4. Place them at base entry points—they'll handle Vermins automatically.

Even basic walls help. They slow enemies and give turrets more time to engage. Surround your core production first.

When To Fight vs When To Flee

Fight when: defending your base, enemy blocks a required path, or guards a resource you need.

Flee when: low health, ammo is scarce, or the enemy is between you and optional objectives. Pride isn't worth losing inventory.
